Alice DeeJay was a Dutch electronic music group, who achieved success from 1999 to 2002. The group consisted of record producers Pronti (born Sebastiaan Molijn), Kalmani (born Eelke Kalberg) and DJ Jurgen, with lead singer Judith Anna Pronk and background dancers Mila Levesque & Angelique Versnel. After the successful years of Alice Deejay, Judith, Mila and Angelique called it quits. Now, Pronk works as a freelance hair and make-up artist around the world and is represented by Touche Models in Amsterdam. Mila Levesque has graduated from the famous Lucia Marthas dance academy and, after Alice Deejay, is still very active in the world of dance. Mila has released a single "Lift Me Up" for a lolly-pop commercial. Angelique Versnel (Angel) began her education as a dancer at the school of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, USA . After completing 4 years at dance academy and high school study at Alvin Aley in New York she became a part of Alice Deejay. In 2004 Angelique started her own company (AV Performing Productions) and gives training lessons as well as creating complete choreographies for artists, bands and commercial shows. Alice DeeJay launched their career in July 1999 with the single, "Better Off Alone", an accessible and upbeat Eurotrance pop tune. In the UK, the song went platinum and reached number 2 in the UK Singles Chart. The group also achieved success with the follow-up single "Back In My Life" in November of the same year. The group's first and, to date, only album is Who Needs Guitars Anyway?, which was released on April 11, 2000. The album contains upbeat, popular trance tracks, and entered the Top Ten of the UK Albums Chart. Alice DeeJay made the UK Top 20 with three more tracks: "Will I Ever", "The Lonely One" and "Celebrate Our Love", although each single's chart position was lower than its predecessors. Sună exact ca piesele de afară, însă piesa este... 100% românească! În spatele numelui de scenă David Deejay se ascunde Adi Colceru, "vinovatul" multor hituri de la TNT, HI-Q, Akcent sau DJ Project. În spatele hitului "Sexy Thing" stau mulţi ani de muzică. Vreo 12! Originar din Bîrlad, Adi a studiat vioara încă din clasa întîi, însă instrumentul preferat al lui Vivaldi nu l-a atras prea tare aşa că a renunţat la şcoala de specialitate. Nu însă şi la muzică, căci la 16 ani a început să lucreze cu un alt "instrument": calculatorul. Aşa a apărut prima piesă şi dorinţa de a face muzică pentru cele mai tari trupe de la noi. Şi i-a ieşit! Din 2003, Adi s-a mutat la Bucureşti. Mai întîi a lucrat la MOF Records -- studioul băieţilor de la HI-Q, unde a compus şi a orchestrat, printre altele, "Strada mea" pentru TNT, "Jokero" pentru Akcent şi mai multe piese pentru trupa HI-Q. "Dacă mă întrebaţi ce ştiu să fac cel mai bine, vă răspund că ştiu să orchestrez. Prin urmare, am lucrat la multe piese. Apoi, am lucrat şi cu Gabi Huiban şi aşa am ajuns să colaborez cu Laurenţiu Duţă şi m-am mutat la studioul lor. Aici, am lucrat cu alte trupe, inclusiv cu 3SE -- la piesa , de exemplu. Sînt fan Laurenţiu Duţă!". În acelaşi timp, Adi şi-a început şi activitatea de DJ în cluburi, sub numele de DJ David: "Ştiu exact pe ce muzică se mişcă lumea cel mai bine şi aşa am început să studiez piesele care transmit acea atmosferă care îi determină pe toţi să danseze şi să se simtă bine. Indiferent de ritm, orice piesă are o stare pe care o transmite foarte uşor. Aşa am început să fac piese cu care să meargă în club, dar şi pe radio, şi aşa a apărut ", povesteşte DJ-ul. La prima audiţie, mulţi au crezut că vocea îi aparţine unei fete, însă cel care "dă glas" piesei este Dony de la trupa Refflex. Tot el s-a ocupat şi de versuri. Hitul verii! Fără a ne grăbi în pronosticuri, putem spune că piesa lui David Deejay, aşa cum îşi spune în showbiz, este deja hitul verii. Şi a depăşit chiar şi graniţele ţării, melodia fiind difuzată la radio în Polonia şi în Rusia. Videoclipul piesei, marca Iulian Moga, rulează pe posturile de specialitate aproape în fiecare oră. Iar Adi apare în clip preţ de cîteva secunde. Chiar dacă există voci care spun că melodia lui David Deejay este "inspirată" din alte piese, "Sexy Thing" prinde mai bine decît "originalele". Cu siguranţă, în toamnă vom auzi o nouă piesă de-a lui Adi, căci DJ-ul pregăteşte un album în acelaşi stil. Vor exista şi alte voci, iar o parte din piese vor fi realizate împreună cu Laurenţiu Duţă. Asta nu înseamnă că nu va compune în continuare hituri şi pentru alţi artişti. Nici cluburile nu vor fi ocolite, chiar dacă, în astfel de locaţii, David Deejay se transformă în DJ David. Adi este născut pe 10 decembrie 1980, la Bîrlad. În prezent, este student la Universitatea româno-americană, Facultatea de relaţii comerciale şi financiar-bancare interne şi internaţionale. Complete piano of Alice Deejay's Better off Alone. I was inspired after seeing fredfour play this (wow!) but his wasn't complete. Here is my complete version as a tribute to Alice Deejay and fredfour. *new note: Thanks for all the comments, I appreciate it all. Please note that this was all played by ear, so I still have to make a music sheet. Unfortunately, I don't have a piano, I've been using my in-law's piano. When I get the chance again, I will make a music sheet or even a video tutorial and let everyone who requested it know. Thank you for your patience.
