Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary & thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine Tell her to make me a cambric shirt (On the side of a hill in the deep forest green) Parsely, sage, rosemary & thyme (Tracing a sparrow on snow-crested ground) Without no seams nor needlework (Blankets and bedclothes a child of the mountains) Then she'll be a true love of mine (Sleeps unaware of the clarion call) Tell her to find me an acre of land (On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves) Parsely, sage, rosemary, & thyme (Washed is the ground with so many tears) Between the salt water and the sea strand (A soldier cleans and polishes a gun) Then she'll be a true love of mine Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather (War bellows, blazing in scarlet battalions) Parsely, sage, rosemary & thyme (Generals order their soldiers to kill) And to gather it all in a bunch of heather (And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten) Then she'll be a true love of mine Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary & thyme Remember me to one who lives there She once was a true love of mine.

Christopher Hitchens found out for himself, submitting to a brutal waterboarding session in an effort to understand the human cost of America's use of harsh tactics at Guantánamo and elsewhere. It's really quite a pity that Julie Andrews was passed over for this role which she made famous when it came to the movie version. Oh well...

I respond to the January 30th 2007 Paula Zahn Now broadcast on CNN, which had quickly degenerated into an absurd atheist-bashing session. A transcript is available on my website at http://coffeeghost.net

When the California Commission on the Fair Administration of Justice held hearings last week on the fairness of the death penalty, I didn't expect all the details of more than 6 hours of hearings to be covered in my local newspaper, the Sacramento Bee. I was surprised, however, to see the Sacramento Bee article covering the hearings did not even mention the many murder victim family members who oppose the death penalty who spent all day at that hearing to share the stories I excerpt in my video. Instead, the Sacramento Bee only quoted a murder victim family member supporting the death penalty who did not even speak at the hearing. The online version of the Sacramento Bee article I am criticizing is available at: http://www.sacbee.com/111/story/626308.html And, video of the entire January 10, 2008, hearing is available from the California Channel at: http://www.calchannel.com/MEDIA/0110A.asx Also, more information about the California Commission on the Fair Administration of Justice is available at: http://www.ccfaj.org/ Finally, a lot more testimonials from victims of crimes seeking alternatives to the death penalty are available at: http://www.californiacrimevictims.org/
