Sep. 18, 2008. Ron Paul explains how misguided policies and actions by the Federal Reserve and the government led to the current financial crisis. Many who agree with me on a lot of other issues, do not understand my enthusiasm for gold and sound money or why I spend so much time studying and talking about monetary policy. Its true that I talk about money differently than most, but the fact is sound money offers many benefits. For example peace. Can sound money really bring about peace? Actually, it plays a big part in peaceful international relationships. Money based on commodities, rather than paper, is not subject to government manipulation, and is a key component to free and honest trade. History shows that if countries engage in trade with each other, their governments tend to find ways to get along for the same reason you do not kill your customers at your place of business, even if they occasionally annoy you. If someone outright cheats you, however, you may engage in war by taking them to court, for example, and the relationship will sour. Governments and central banks with unfettered power to manipulate currency also have the ability to cheat their creditors. One way they do this is to simply create enough currency to pay off debts. This devalues the currency and cheats the recipient out of what they are owed. It would not be fair if you watered down your product the way our government waters down its currency, so it is not hard to understand, in these simplified terms, why loose monetary policy contributes so much to ill will and war around the world. Sound money, on the other hand, simply is what it is. Removing governmental power to manipulate money, removes the temptation for government to spend, print and cheat. Sound money ensures that our governments spending priorities would be brought into sharp focus and reduced to only what we can afford. Sound money also limits the ability to wage wars of aggression. Imagine how much more careful Washington would have to be about starting a war if they did not have this financial sleight of hand at their disposal! Fiat currency allows government do expensive things they should not be doing while paying the bills with cheap money. The Federal Reserve has lately been auctioning off large amounts of treasury bills as a way to finance the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and our crushing entitlement burden. The resulting devaluation of the dollar is quickly eroding our image as a good trading partner in the world. As a consequence, there is therefore more talk of economic isolation and war. This vicious cycle of spending, fighting and inflating is not what Americans want. It is what the government wants, and it has had to deceive the citizens into allowing and supporting it. Sound money curbs the governments ability to engage in these shenanigans and reduces the wars we fight to only truly defensive ones, for which Americans are more than willing to stand and fight. So in these ways, sound money is very conducive to peace. Source: http://www.ronpaul.com/2008-09-16/ron-paul-on-gold-and-sound-money/

... what can I say, he does his best and that is very embarrassing.

Note: Read small FAQ at bottom for where to find the game. Holy shit, I can't believe I pulled this off. I got INSANELY far on this run. I'll spoil it in the next paragraph, but god damn, I did not expect to get that far. For the record, Impossible Mode playthroughs are somewhat annoying (other than dying) because when you do die you have to restart the program (or select "new"). When you die on Impossible Mode, if you try to start another run, "game over" appears as soon as you start and it's stuck on the screen. So that makes doing the Impossible Mode runs really annoying. And everytime I do "new", it resets my custom controls, since there are no settings. But yea, after 50 or so attempts, I managed to get this far, and at the moment it seems I have the record of getting farthest on the upper path. If you're curious, the Youtube user KyperTrast (another IWBTG master) had the record on that one before I did this. It's actually rather funny, I only have gotten to Mecha Birdo twice on this Impossible Mode, and the first time I died in the SAME exact spot the SAME exact way he did. I was going to live with that, but I decided to try again, and 10 or less tries later, I got this video. So yea, if I didn't keep playing it'd have been a tie. I died in the room with the fan. The death sucked, I spaz jumped into a spike instead of triggering Ryu to pop up. If I had passed that one room I'd have made it to the end, and gotten to start at the beginning again. I don't think I'll ever be able to pull ALL that off again, so I'm living with this video unless someone does better. Oh and yea, I had the "Disable shit to run better" or whatever option enabled to try to prevent any lag, that's why you don't see stuff like the flame trail when falling from the sky, or the explosion effect thingy against Mecha Birdo. As for IWBTG videos, I only have the Hidden Items videos left, and a Boss Rush video. For the items, I did something different, to see how it'll turn out. Also, in other news, I finally got a Wii. It turns out after about two months of waiting, GameStop got in more Wiis. It cost me like $250 (not including tax) for the Wii. Much better than buying it online. I also pre-ordered Brawl while I was at it. So guess what that means? I'll be doing Brawl videos when it comes out. I know there's already many, but you know. -- Q: Where do you download the game? A: http://kayin.pyoko.org/iwbtg . The version I DLed is 1.0, the newest is at the top. The differences are things like new hidden items and boss rush feature, as well as bug fixes. Q: Do I need an Emulator for this? A: No, its actually its own game. In fact, you can't. So that means no cheap save states or any of that crap. Q: I swear this game is impossible, I can't get past this one room, are you sure it's possible? A: Every new room you enter will tend to feel impossible most of the time until you figure out how to do it. Some of it is trial and error, while the rest is skill and sometimes luck. Q: If you die, is it really a game over? A: Yes, but you revert to your last save point. At anytime in the game you can press the "R" button to revert to a save point. Q: What is Impossible Mode? A: No save points.
